Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, on the agenda of the discussion between Minister Oleg Țulea and Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi

13 July 2020, Chișinău - Advancing cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the next period, EU assistance and the reform priority agenda were discussed today by Minister Oleg Țulea and European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.

The two officials exchanged views on the achievements of our country in recent times, which allowed a positive decision by the EU institutions to consider the second tranche of the current macro-financial assistance programme.

Oleg Țulea declared that „We do not stop here, even in less favourable conditions of the pandemic crisis it is possible to maintain a dynamic pace in the implementation of reforms". The Moldovan official mentioned the importance of launching discussions with the EU on the new Association Agenda, which will serve as a basis for planning the future stages of implementation of the Association Agreement.

For his part, Commissioner Varhelyi advocated for further reforms and avoiding setbacks.

The subject of the Eastern Partnership was also addressed today. The Head of Moldovan diplomacy noted that, in the context of elaborating the objectives of cooperation within the EAP in the post-2020 period, the Republic of Moldova will promote proposals to deepen political cooperation and sectoral integration of eastern partners with the EU.
