Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu signed the letters of intent for a 150 million euros loan agreement with the European Investment Bank

December 15, 2021, Brussels – On the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and in the presence of President Maia Sandu the letters of intent for the financing agreement with the European Investment Bank in which our country will receive a loan of up to 150 million euros for the implementation of the “Moldova Roads IV” Project.

The signing of the document is the result of negotiations carried out by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu and officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

With the support of European partners, who help develop the infrastructure network and connectivity, we are stepping towards concrete funding for good roads. There will be long-term benefits for both local communities and businesses that will be able to transport goods faster and more efficiently.” stated Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.

Within the framework of the project there will be rehabilitated, modernized and extended more than 150 km of roads and also feasibility studies and project documentation will be developed for other priority national road sectors.
