State Secretary Sergiu Mihov participates in the Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of BSEC Member States

19 December 2025 - State Secretary Sergiu Mihov participated today, in an online format, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

In his statement, Sergiu Mihov highlighted the role of BSEC as an important platform for regional economic cooperation, promoting connectivity and sustainable development, including through the implementation of a common economic agenda.

The official reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to strengthening regional economic cooperation and emphasized the importance of sectoral collaboration, trade facilitation, and the advancement of concrete initiatives in areas of shared interest. He also underlined the need to further develop BSEC partnerships with other international and regional organizations.

The State Secretary strongly condemned the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine and reiterated the Republic of Moldova’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. In this context, he stressed that the Republic of Moldova aligns itself with the joint declaration of the group of member states condemning the Russian Federation’s violation of international law and the principles of the BSEC Charter.

In conclusion, State Secretary Sergiu Mihov emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation in the wider Black Sea region and expressed the Republic of Moldova’s appreciation for the efforts of the Republic of Bulgaria during its BSEC Chairmanship.

Note: During the July-December 2025 period, the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office was held by the Republic of Bulgaria. The next term, covering January-June 2026, will be assumed by Georgia.
