Ghana Ambassador presented the copies of his letters of accreditation at MFAEI

April 17, 2019, Chisinau – The current status of relations between the Republic of Moldova and Ghana, including the political dialogue and the commercial - economic cooperation were discussed today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi during the meeting with Ghana Ambassador to our country, residing in Moscow, Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku-Ware, who presented the copies of his letters of accreditation.

The Minister Tudor Ulianovschi informed the Ghanaian diplomat about the decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to open an Embassy in Ghana (city Accra), which will be the first diplomatic mission of our country on the continent of Africa. According to the Minister, this step can offer our country great advantages and more efficient possibilities for bilateral cooperation not only with Ghana but with other African states.

Tudor Ulianovschi wished her luck fulfilling her new mandate and assured the ambassador Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku-Ware of the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in carrying out his work in our country. 

Moreover, the Ghanaian ambassador in Moldova mentioned that the authorities of Accra appreciate the decision of the Government of Moldova to open a diplomatic mission, considering that this will provide new opportunities for deepening the bilateral dialogue directly between both states in various international organisations, in particular through support from 55 member states of the African Union.

Tudor Ulianovschi and Oheneba Dr. Lesley Akyaa Opoku – Ware noted that the two states belong to the Francophonie area, which creates favourable terms for boosting Moldovan – Ghanaian cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
