Accreditation of foreign journalists

The procedure of accreditation of foreign media representatives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova

The accreditation of foreign media representatives is based on the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova no. 359 from 02.06.95 from 02.06.95, published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial), no. 38-39 of 14.07.95.

For accreditation, the journalist will send to secdep@mfa.gov.md and press@mfa.gov.md the following documents:

  1. request for accreditation in the national language, English or French, addressed to the Ministry, whereby the head of the press agency (publication, radio or television station or other profile organizations) requests the accreditation of his/her journalist with signature, registration number and stamp; In the case of a freelancer, proof will be provided by the national journalists' association, confirmed by an Embassy or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country.
  2. The accreditation form completed by the journalist (signed and with the photo);
  3. summary of the applicant's biography, authenticated by his/her signature, including the date and place of birth, information on the studies and work carried out until the request for accreditation, civil status;
  4. "3x4" photo (in jpeg, jpg format);
  5. copy of the Passport;
  6. copy of the press card;

The final decision will be taken within one month and will be completed by issuing an accreditation card, which can be picked up from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00 with a prior notification from the applicant.

The accreditation card is valid 2 years. In case of a change of the Press Agency which requested accreditation in the Republic of Moldova or loss of the card, the journalist is obliged to notify the Ministry about this.

In the case of prolongation of the accreditation card:

The card can be extended for one more year. For prolongation, the journalist will present the following documents:

  1. request for accreditation in the national language, English or French, addressed to the Ministry, whereby the head of the press agency (publication, radio or television station or other profile organizations) requests the accreditation of his/her journalist with signature, registration number and stamp; In the case of a freelancer, proof will be provided by the national journalists' association, confirmed by an Embassy or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country.
  2. The accreditation form completed by the journalist (signed and with the photograph);
  3. summary of the applicant's biography, authenticated by his/her signature, including the date and place of birth, information on the studies and work carried out until the request for accreditation, civil status;
  4. "3x4" photo (in jpeg, jpg format);
  5. copy of the Passport;
  6. copy of the press card;
  7. At least four press materials signed (written) by him/her in the last month in the represented media institution, which will prove his work (Failure to comply with this requirement is a ground for rejecting the request to extend accreditation).

On arrival in Moldova, foreign journalists are asked to contact the Public Diplomacy, Strategic Communication and Interaction with the Press Division.
