9 April 2020, Chișinău - Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea today had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Petříček.
The two ministers discussed the current situation in the two countries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of effective international cooperation in solving the problems that citizens face regarding the restriction of international circulation.
Minister Oleg Țulea expressed thanks for the support of the Czech authorities given to Moldovan citizens who found themselves in a situation of blockage on the Prague Airport, on April 2nd, reiterating the willingness of the Moldovan authorities to continue the process of repatriation of Moldovan citizens who are in a difficult situation outside the country.
The head of the Moldovan diplomacy emphasized the importance of further strengthening the political and diplomatic dialogue and the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic in priority areas of common interest. Minister Oleg Țulea appreciated the consistent support of the Czech Republic for the European course of Moldova, both on political level and through the Czech Development Agency, with its assistance projects in priority areas for our country such as agriculture and rural development, good governance, sustainable management of water resources, inclusive social development.
At the same time, it was welcomed the decision of the Czech Government on April 9th to offer humanitarian aid to development partner countries, including the Republic of Moldova, through donations of medical equipment for hospitals, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, the officials exchanged opinions on the possibilities of intensifying the economic cooperation, including the importance of holding the meeting of the Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Commission during the course of this year.
