On the morning of today, at 07:00 (Republic of Moldova time), the last polling stations established in the United States of America – Sacramento, Seattle, Glendale, and Las Vegas – as well as the polling station in Vancouver, Canada, were closed. At present, the constituency council is processing the copies of the minutes from abroad.
In total, across the 301 polling stations opened abroad, including the 4 designated for postal voting, 281,170 voters exercised their constitutional right. Of these, 2,055 opted for postal voting: 1,162 in the USA, 555 in Canada, 286 in Sweden, and 52 in Japan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes the high turnout of the diaspora, which demonstrated unity, civic spirit, and an informed and responsible vote. We also appreciate the good organization of the electoral bureaus, which undertook the necessary measures to streamline the voting process in the stations with the highest turnout and to ensure the smooth and well-coordinated conduct of the elections.
We extend a message of gratitude to all Moldovan voters who mobilized in impressive numbers, to the authorities of the host countries that allowed the organization of the elections on their territories and ensured public order, as well as to the electoral officials from the diplomatic service and the members of the diaspora who served as volunteers, contributing to the proper conduct of the elections abroad.
2025 Parliamentary Elections – Situation at 22:00
According to the information presented by the Central Electoral Commission, the polling stations in the Republic of Moldova have closed, and the centralization of the preliminary results is underway.
Diaspora turnout until 21:00 reached 272,902 voters, with the highest participation recorded in Italy, Romania, and Germany.
Voting continues in the USA and Canada
We remind our citizens in the United States and Canada that polling stations remain open until closing time according to the local time zone. We encourage all citizens who have not yet voted to go to the polling stations and exercise their constitutional right.
Preliminary results for the parliamentary elections are available on the CEC website, and the final results will be announced after all minutes are received.
CEC Briefing – 19:00
As of 19:00, more than 1,475,000 voters have cast their ballots in the country and abroad, representing over 48% of all registered voters. By comparison:
- At the early parliamentary elections of 11 July 2021, 1.3 million voters (43%) had voted by the same hour.
- At the second round of the 2024 presidential elections, turnout reached 1.606 million voters (52.3%).
In the polling stations opened abroad, more than 233,000 citizens with voting rights have voted so far.
Since the previous briefing, the polling station in China has closed (21:00 local time), and the stations in India and Kazakhstan are now concluding their activity. At 20:00 (Moldova time), polling stations in the UAE and Azerbaijan will close.
The highest turnout is registered in several polling stations across Europe and the Russian Federation:
- Romania – Bucharest 3 (over 6,100 voters) and Bucharest 4 (over 5,200 voters).
- Italy – Venice Mestre 2 (over 5,600), Padua 1 (over 4,200), Padua 2 (over 4,700), Verona (over 2,300), Parma and Modena (over 2,200 each).
- Russian Federation – Moscow 2 (over 5,400 voters).
- United Kingdom – Stratford (London 2) (over 2,100 voters).
- Ireland – Dublin (over 3,500 voters).
- France – Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (over 4,200), Livry-Gargan (over 3,500), Creteil (over 3,300), Nice 1 and Nice 2 (over 2,500 each).
- Germany – Osnabrück (over 3,300), Frankfurt am Main 1 (over 2,900), Frankfurt am Main 3 (over 3,600).
- Switzerland – Geneva (over 2,800 voters).
Regarding the bomb threats reported at some polling stations abroad, these proved to be false. The activity of the stations has resumed, and voting is taking place normally.

CEC Briefing – 16:00
As of 16:00, the polling station in Tokyo, Japan, has closed, and shortly before, the station in China also concluded voting. The remaining stations continue their work.
We also announce the smooth opening of polling stations on the east coast of North America.
We welcome the unprecedented mobilization of Moldovans abroad, many of whom are making remarkable efforts to exercise their right to vote. By 16:00, more than 170,000 Moldovan citizens abroad had voted.
The CEC confirms that all polling stations abroad have been supplied with a sufficient number of ballot papers.
CEC Briefing – 12:00
Regarding the polling stations established abroad for the 2025 parliamentary elections, as of 12:00, we inform that the voting process began at 07:00 local time without any reported issues. Polling stations abroad will remain open until 21:00 local time.
Voting is currently underway in Japan, where traditionally the first voter in parliamentary elections cast their ballot.
By 12:00, all polling stations in Europe and Asia established for the parliamentary elections (a total of 268 stations) were operational.
In the following hours, polling stations in the United States and Canada will open.
Thus, the total number of polling stations opened abroad for the 2025 parliamentary elections is 301, including 4 designated for postal voting.
By this hour, 59,097 voters abroad have participated.
Throughout the day, the Central Electoral Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to provide updates on voter turnout in the most requested stations.
Regarding online rumors about the large number of voters reported in the two stations in the Russian Federation, we note that they have been provided with the maximum number of ballot papers — 5,000 each. We remind that the decision to open polling stations in the Russian Federation only at the Embassy premises aims to ensure security — both for citizens and for electoral officials.
28 September 2025, Chișinău – Today, parliamentary elections are taking place in the Republic of Moldova.
The first polling station to open for this election was the one in Japan, where voting began at 01:00 Chișinău time (07:00 local time in Tokyo).
At this moment, voting is underway in polling stations established in: Japan, China, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Israel, the Russian Federation, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, in cooperation with the Central Electoral Commission, will inform citizens through official platforms about turnout and the conditions under which voting is taking place in the 301 polling stations abroad, 4 of which are designated for postal voting.
We remind our citizens abroad that they may vote at any polling station, regardless of their status in the host country, by presenting one of the following documents:
- Moldovan passport (including expired);
- valid national ID card;
- provisional ID card.
