Daniela Cujbă attended the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers BSEC

June 30, 2021, Chișinău - Secretary of State Daniela Cujbă participated today at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), which was held in the format of a videoconference.

The meeting marked the balance of the biannual mandate of the presidency-in-office of the BSEC held by Albania. The agenda of the discussions focused on evaluating the achievements of the BSEC aimed at strengthening the economic mission of the organization, as well as identifying opportunities for the development of joint projects aimed at responding to the socio-economic challenges generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Daniela Cujbă highlighted the need for a unified and strategic approach to identify solutions to the problems of the region's economies. In this sense, the support of the idea of approving practical mechanisms to facilitate trade was reiterated, the market of the member countries of the BSEC having its role in the development of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the interest in implementing infrastructure development projects from the organization's agenda, as well as programs that would contribute to protecting the environment and stimulating tourism, was emphasized.

The event also marked the end of the mandate of the current Secretary General of the BSEC, Michael Christides, whose efforts to increase the role and visibility of the organization were appreciated by the Member States of the organization.

In the context of the exchange of mandates at the head of the Secretariat, the state secretariat Daniela Cujbă congratulated Ambassador Lazăr Comănescu, appointed by the Romanian government, for his appointment as secretary general of the BSEC from July 1st and wished him success in the exercise of the mandate. On this occasion, the firm commitment of our country to strengthen the efficiency of the organization, through the implementation of concrete priority projects for the extended Black Sea region was emphasized.
