Daniela Morari met with parliamentarians from Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania

30 May 2019 Vilnius – Subjects related to the European agenda of our country and bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed by State Secretary Daniela Morari during the meetings with Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee Juozas Bernatonis and Vice-Chairmen of European Affairs Committee, Ruta Miliute and Andrius Kubilius, former Lithuanian Prime Minister and newly elected MEP.

During the talks, Lithuanian members of the Parliament expressed their conviction that the Republic of Moldova should continue the European path and reiterated the interest to share Lithuania's experience in implementing reforms, but also to support Moldovan demarches in the European capitals. At the same time, were addressed the perspectives of the political dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, as well as the support of Lithuania in this process.

It has also been shown that broadening the areas of sectoral cooperation, ensuring an European perspective, extending EU instruments and programs for the three associated countries of the Eastern Partnership should be the main objectives of the EU's recent reflection on the future of the Eastern Partnership. In this context, was reiterated the importance of promoting common positions from the three associated states.

Regarding the Moldovan-Lithuanian dialogue, it was stressed the importance of maintaining and intensifying inter-parliamentary contacts at the level of the specialized committees and the parliamentary friendship groups in the context of exchange of experience and taking over the good practices.
