23 February 2026, Chișinău – From 24 to 25 February, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, will pay a working visit to Geneva and Bern, Switzerland.
In Bern, Mihai Popșoi will meet with the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, and in Geneva he will take part in the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, where he will deliver a statement in plenary.
The programme also includes participation in high-level side events dedicated to strengthening accountability mechanisms for violations committed in the context of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as promoting social rights and reinforcing democratic stability. Mihai Popșoi will also hold meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Sabine Monauni; the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk; and the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Doreen Bogdan-Martin.
On 26 and 27 February, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi will be in Vienna, where he will meet with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, and will participate in the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, where he will present the priorities of the Republic of Moldova’s mandate as President of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers.
The head of diplomacy will also travel to the federal state of Carinthia, where he will meet with Governor Peter Kaiser, the President of the Regional Parliament, Andreas Scherwitzl, as well as the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce. Mihai Popșoi will visit the municipality of Neuhaus, twinned with the commune of Trușeni and host to the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova.
During his visit to Austria, the head of Moldovan diplomacy will meet with Moldovan citizens residing in the federal states.
