17 February 2026, Chișinău – Victor Lăpușneanu, Head of the Multilateral Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening of the educational workshop “Memory, Responsibility and Solidarity – Young People Facing the Lessons of the Holocaust”, organised under the auspices of the Republic of Moldova’s Presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers.

During the event, participants underscored the importance of commemorating the victims of the Holocaust as part of the commitment to protecting fundamental human rights, as well as a key element of resilience in the face of today’s global challenges, such as disinformation and attempts to rewrite history.

In this context, the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to develop an adequate legal framework—aligned with international standards and commitments—were highlighted, with a view to protecting human rights and combating all forms of discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance.

Note: The event is taking place on 17–18 February 2026, under the auspices of the Republic of Moldova’s Presidency of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers. The agenda includes thematic discussions as part of the workshop, as well as the historical tour “The Holocaust in Chișinău – Places of Memory”.
