Mihai Popșoi meets with Moldovan Citizens Residing in Washington

5 December 2025, Washington - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, together with Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu, met with members of the Moldovan community in Washington. During the discussions, the head of Moldovan diplomacy highlighted the role and contribution of the diaspora to the development of the Republic of Moldova.

“I was pleased to meet active Moldovans eager to contribute to the launch of cultural and educational projects that will bring benefits to our country. I thanked them for promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova in the United States,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The discussions also addressed efforts to digitalize  consular services. In this context, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi presented initiatives currently being implemented that will enable community members in the United States to gain faster access to the documents and services they need, including through the continuation of the “The Embassy Comes Closer to You” program.

The minister also noted that, in the near future, the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova in Washington, D.C. will be equipped with new mobile biometric data collection equipment, which will allow for the issuance of identity cards and passports.
