On 5 August 2025, in Abu Dhabi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the reciprocal abolition of visa requirements for holders of ordinary, official, and diplomatic passports.

 Under this agreement, citizens of the Republic of Moldova will be able to travel to the United Arab Emirates without a visa for up to 90 calendar days within a 180-day period.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi emphasized that the signing of this Memorandum reflects the shared commitment of the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates to facilitate the free movement of citizens and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

“This agreement not only simplifies travel and reinforces the bonds of friendship between the two countries, but also provides a significant boost to economic development, tourism, and cultural cooperation between Moldova and the United Arab Emirates,” the minister stated.

Last year, approximately 6,800 Moldovan citizens traveled to the United Arab Emirates. The cost of a visa was 80 euros per person.

The agreement will enter into force on 5 September 2025, 30 days after the official signing.
