June 5, 2025, Zagreb – The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carolina Perebinos, led the MFA delegation in a new round of Moldovan-Croatian political consultations, organized in Zagreb.
During the meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, the current state of Moldovan-Croatian relations was reviewed, with appreciation for the dynamics of political dialogue over recent years at various levels.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as: energy, information technology, the agri-food industry, pharmaceuticals, migration, infrastructure, education, research and innovation, tourism, and others. In this context, it was agreed to organize a bilateral economic forum.
The process of the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union was a central point on the agenda. The Croatian side reaffirmed its support for Moldova's European path, expressing its willingness to continue sharing its own accession experience with Moldovan officials and experts.
The delegations exchanged views on the security situation in the region, the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine, and its impact on the Republic of Moldova. State Secretary Carolina Perebinos informed about the efforts of the Moldovan authorities aimed at strengthening national resilience, as well as the need to counter hybrid threats and foreign interference, including in the democratic processes of the country.
The efficient cooperation within international organizations was appreciated, including the mutual support provided for the candidacies of the two countries for positions in UN structures.
