Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu attends the sixth Eastern Partnership Summit

December 14, 2021, Brussels – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu participates in the delegation led by President Maia Sandu at the sixth Eastern Partnership Summit.

The irreversibility of the European integration process and the strategic objective of our country also implies the strengthening of the dialogue with the European Union. We will use the opportunity of our presence in Brussels to discuss with senior European officials, the leaders of the Member States of the European Union and the partner countries of the Eastern Partnership about enhancing our interaction in the political and security fields, energy and environment, cooperation in the field of justice and of internal affairs.” said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.

It is worth mentioning that the Republic of Moldova has obtained the greatest benefits in the Eastern Partnership following the implementation of the Association Agreement and the free economic zone, which translates in a practical way through secure and well-paid jobs as well as exports to the common European space.

„The solidarity and openness of the European Union are well known to every citizen through the many projects in all corners of the country implemented with the generous support of European contributors. Tomorrow in Brussels, in the presence of the Head of State, I will sign several agreements and documents of intent for concrete financial support in the field of infrastructure and energy efficiency.” said the Head of Diplomacy from Chișinău.

The agenda of the national delegation includes bilateral meetings with the presidents and prime ministers of the Member States of the European Union, the heads of the European institutions, in the format of the Associated Trio Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine, but also with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan who participate at the Summit, which reconfirms the strategic objective of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova to create strong and long-lasting friendships for the benefit of our citizens.
