March 27, 2025, Vilnius – A new round of interministerial political consultations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Lithuania took place in Vilnius. The discussions were led by State Secretary Carolina Perebinos and Lithuania’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Julius Pranevičius.

The delegations engaged in a consistent and constructive dialogue on a wide range of topics, including bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and development fields, Moldova’s European integration path, the regional security situation, as well as cooperation within international organizations.

Both sides welcomed the positive dynamics of Moldovan-Lithuanian relations and expressed a joint commitment to strengthening them further, including through organizing high-level bilateral visits in the near future.

Carolina Perebinos thanked the Lithuanian authorities for their willingness to share experience in European integration and their support for Moldova’s EU accession. The head of the Moldovan delegation also expressed appreciation for the development assistance provided by the Lithuanian government, reiterating the importance of this support in Moldova’s democratic, economic, and social transformations.

Deputy Minister Julius Pranevičius reaffirmed Lithuania’s strong support for Moldova’s European path, acknowledging the progress made on the reform agenda and encouraging the continued alignment of national legislation with the EU acquis.

During the consultations, the diplomats also discussed issues related to the Transnistrian conflict resolution, recent regional developments, and unwavering support for Ukraine. Both parties emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue to counter hybrid threats and strengthen the resilience of democratic institutions. The interlocutors recognized the need for comprehensive measures to protect Moldova’s democratic institutions and ensure energy resilience through diversification of supply sources.

State Secretary Carolina Perebinos stressed the necessity to capitalize on investment opportunities and expand trade exchanges by organizing business forums, participating mutually in fairs and specialized exhibitions, and facilitating direct connections between the business communities of both countries.

The parties also discussed cooperation within the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and other international forums.
