April 29, 2025, Bucharest – The State Secretary of the Republic of Moldova, Carolina Perebinos, conducted a working visit to Bucharest, where she led, together with her Romanian counterpart, the State Secretary for Strategic Affairs, Ana Cristina Tinca, a round of interministerial political consultations.
The discussions focused on current topics from the bilateral agenda, developments related to Moldova's European path, as well as Romania's continuous support in Moldova's development and reform process. Issues related to regional security and cooperation within international organizations were also addressed.
During the consultations, both sides appreciated the ongoing and dynamic dialogue between the two countries, anchored in a solid and multidimensional bilateral agenda. State Secretary Carolina Perebinos highlighted that Moldova's progress on its European path is largely due to Romania’s consistent and permanent support, as expressed through the Strategic Partnership for European integration. Additionally, the work of the European Union Partnership Mission (EUPM) in Moldova, led by Romanian diplomat Cosmin Dinescu, was acknowledged.
Ana Cristina Tinca reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to continuing its support for Moldova’s European integration process and the implementation of the necessary reforms. In this context, Carolina Perebinos expressed gratitude for the disbursement of approximately 17 million euros, representing the first two installments of the Agreement for non-repayable assistance amounting to 100 million euros. These funds have been directed towards strategic projects in infrastructure, education, and public order, having a direct impact on improving the quality of life for Moldovan citizens.
The intensification of sectoral contacts between the ministries of both countries was also noted, with a particular focus on major infrastructure projects such as the reconstruction of bridges over the Prut River, modernization of the railway, strengthening cross-border cooperation, energy interconnection, and the development of transport, including the smoothening of traffic at the Leușeni-Albița border crossing point.
Regarding regional security, the officials engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on the impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, reaffirming the joint commitment to strengthening Moldova's resilience. The perspective of resolving the Transnistrian conflict was also discussed, emphasizing the importance of promoting dialogue to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Finally, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in collaborating within regional organizations and discussed arrangements for mutual support for candidacies in the United Nations structures.
