June 18, 2025, Kyiv – Today, a new round of Moldovan-Ukrainian interministerial political consultations took place in Kyiv at the level of Secretary of State/Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova was led by Secretary of State Sergiu Mihov, while the Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olexandr Mischenko.

During the consultations, priority topics on the bilateral relations agenda were addressed, as well as prospects for strengthening the Moldovan-Ukrainian partnership in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and humanitarian areas.

The discussion agenda covered the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, with appreciation expressed for the upward dynamic of political-diplomatic dialogue in recent years, also reflected through high-level exchange visits.

The officials emphasized the essential role of sectoral commissions and working groups, particularly in the areas of transport, infrastructure, energy, protection of the Dniester River, cross-border cooperation, information and cyber security, education, and culture. At the same time, both sides reaffirmed their openness to expanding cooperation in other areas of common interest.

As Vice President of the Moldovan side of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, Secretary of State Sergiu Mihov reiterated the interest in resuming the activity of this important platform for economic dialogue.

The two officials also exchanged views on the European path of both countries, underlining the importance of mutual support in advancing their respective agendas for integration into the European Union.

Referring to the security situation in the region and the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, Secretary of State Mihov reaffirmed the need to end this war through a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law. This peace must respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. The Republic of Moldova will continue to actively support all international efforts aimed at restoring peace on the European continent, in the interest of regional security.

Additionally, the efficient cooperation between the two countries within international and regional organizations was noted, including through mutual support for candidacies to positions within UN structures.

At the end of the meeting, Sergiu Mihov and Olexandr Mischenko emphasized the importance of maintaining a constant and constructive dialogue on the priority issues of the Moldovan-Ukrainian agenda.
