June 20, 2025, Chișinău – The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova yesterday adopted, in two readings, the Law on International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance, a bill drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the context of commitments undertaken toward the European Union.

The law establishes a coherent legal framework that will enable the Republic of Moldova to actively participate in international efforts to support underdeveloped countries and to provide humanitarian assistance in times of crisis. The legislation regulates mechanisms for planning, financing, implementation, and monitoring of projects, aligning with the best practices of the European Union and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The adoption of this law marks an important step in strengthening the Republic of Moldova’s status as a responsible international partner and in advancing the European integration process. It will also enable access to European funding instruments dedicated to development cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve as the coordinating authority for this policy area.
