August 16, 2021, Chișinău - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration carefully monitors the evolution of the security situation in Afghanistan.
In the first half of the day, the Republic of Moldova aligned itself with the joint declaration of the international community, supported by over 70 countries, requesting that Afghan and foreign nationals wishing to leave Afghanistan be allowed to leave the country, and airports and border crossing points remain open.
At the same time, we mention that there were no requests for repatriation received at the address of the MFAEI from the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. If necessary, the ministry will be fully involved in the process of evacuating Moldovan citizens by ensuring coordinated communication through diplomatic channels with partner countries that have a diplomatic mission in Kabul.
MFAEI diplomats are already in contact with counterparts from the foreign ministries of Romania and Ukraine to intervene promptly, if necessary, to assist our compatriots.
If you have information about Moldovan citizens who are in the region and are facing a difficult situation, or as a matter of urgency, we invite you to notify without delay the Consular Affairs Directorate of the MFAEI at the email address: dac@mfa.gov.md or at the telephone number: +373 22 201 050.
