15 May 2019, Chișinău – Usefulness of the “Practical guide” in regards to the prevention and counteracting of anti-Semitic crimes motivated by hatred, along with closer interaction between state institutions and the Jewish community in the Republic of Moldova, for the purpose of identifying the security needs, adoption of appropriate solutions and consolidation of the national legislation, were discussed at the round table "Reaction regarding the anti-Semitic crimes motivated by hatred and the addressing of security needs  of the Jewish community in the Republic of Moldova”.

The MFAEI State Secretary, Tatiana Molcean, thanked the international partners for their support to the Republic of Moldova in achieving the established objectives. The official has welcomed the OSCE-ODIHR initiative as regards the launching of the publication in question in Chișinău, while expressing her strong belief that the Practical Guide will be of real use in the daily activity for all the state institutions from our country. In this respect, Tatiana Molcean has noted that "our nation is a tolerant one by definition, therefore we cannot speak about the existence of anti-Semitism as a phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova, but rather as some regrettable isolated cases that we should obviously counter".

In turn, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mihail Beregoi, has emphasized the willingness of the law enforcement institutions to involve themselves as efficiently as possible in the prevention and fighting the crimes motivated by hatred, in order to meet the security needs of the Jewish community, invoking, in this respect, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Jewish Community in the Republic of Moldova and the World Jewish Congress (WJC), signed in June 2018.

The event was attended by the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Agency for Interethnic Relations, Jewish Community in the Republic of Moldova and the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
