28 November 2025, Brussels — State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Valeriu Mija and State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Ghenadie Cojocaru paid a visit to NATO Headquarters. The agenda included participation in the Political Committee meeting in the 32 Allies + Republic of Moldova format, as well as meetings with Alliance officials and NATO member state ambassadors.

 The discussions focused on the latest developments in regional security, initiatives aimed at ending the war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and the importance of agreeing on arrangements for a just and lasting peace based on strong security guarantees to deter further armed aggression in the region. The officials from Chișinău also reviewed the Moldovan Government’s objectives in various areas, particularly EU accession criteria implementation and the modernization and strengthening of national security.

Another key topic was Moldova–NATO cooperation. Actions necessary for the implementation of the Individual Partnership Program for 2025–2028, as well as the NATO Defence Capacity Building (DCB) assistance package and other bilateral cooperation programs, were coordinated. Both sides emphasized their shared interest in deepening political dialogue and implementing practical programs in mutually agreed areas to strengthen Moldova’s defence, security, and resilience capacities, combat disinformation, and counter emerging hybrid threats.

NATO representatives welcomed Moldova’s EU accession aspirations, reiterating support for its democratization, modernization, and national security strengthening processes. The Alliance also expressed its readiness to continue sharing expertise and best practices, as well as providing necessary assistance to Moldova’s security and defence sector.
