21 January, 2019, Chisinau – During the World Economic Forum, which will take place on 22-25 January 2019, in Davos, the Republic of Moldova will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi. The topic of this year's meeting will be "Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
Within the Forum, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi will have a series of bilateral meetings with officials from the participating countries, as well as representatives of the business environment, such as the EU Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmstrom, the UN Deputy Secretary-General in Geneva, Michael Møller, the Secretary General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Francis Gurry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Jacek Czaputowicz, the Minister of Finance of Malta, Edward Scicluna, diverse multinational companies and other high level officials from other states.
Within the discussions of bilateral and multilateral nature, the head of the diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova will present our country's position on the challenges of the developing countries to assert themselves economically on a global level and will address a range of topics on the international cooperation of the Republic Moldova in such areas as commercial, economic, investment and public diplomacy, as well as our country's position on new reforms in the international trade system, emphasizing the need to regulate e-commerce and promote intelligent economic diplomacy according to international agreements in the context of the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution and its impact on society. At the same time, Minister Ulianovschi will present the investment opportunities of the Republic of Moldova and will discuss with diverse multinational companies.
In Davos, world leaders will tackle topics with international impact such as: economic diplomacy, the future borders of cyber security, the revival of the European Union in the context of Brexit, the regulation of e-commerce and digital economy worldwide, the reform of the world trade system in the context of trade and economic restrictions imposed by some WTO members, as well as global financial risks and climate challenges.
The World Economic Forum is an unprecedented platform for public-private dialogue involving more than 3,000 representatives of governments, businesses, academia, culture and civil society from more than 110 countries. The Davos Summit is also known as an interaction platform of the most influential leaders in the world, where states with developed economies draw the principles and practices of the future value chain of the global economic circuit.
