12 March 2021, Chișinău - State secretary Daniela Cujbă participated in a videoconference format in the international conference "Associated countries of the Eastern Partnership: parliamentary and security cooperation", organized by the Committee on Ukraine's integration into the European Union of the Supreme Rada and the non-governmental analytical center "Ukrainian Prism".
Daniela Cujbă spoke about the importance of the continuous deepening of cooperation with the EU and the opening of new dimensions of cooperation for the associated partners of the Eastern Partnership, both in the framework of political dialogue and along the lines of economic and sectoral integration.
Participants at the event referred to the need to reinvigorate the Eastern Partnership and promote a strategic vision for the initiative that would reflect the growing european aspirations of the three associated states.
In addition, they reiterated the importance of including new areas of cooperation such as the development of the energy sector, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, deepened interaction in the field of security, the extension of the participation of partner countries in EU programmes in the agenda of the discussions on the future Eastern Partnership. The need to increase assistance for the implementation of the reforms foreseen in the Association Agreements and their complementary EU approximation processes was also highlighted.
During the session dedicated to security challenges in the associated countries, state secretary Daniela Cujbă referred to the need to increase interaction between the EU and the EaP in this field, to open up access for eastern partners to relevant EU arrangements and platforms, to advance high-level dialogue in the security sphere including to address common challenges and threats.
This year's Eastern Partnership Summit will be an opportunity to set new goals for short and medium term cooperation within this format, including on the security dimension and resilience building.
