28 November 2025, Brussels — State Secretary Valeriu Mija held a series of meetings with representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), including Deputy Secretary-General for Peace, Security and Defence Charles Fries and EEAS Director for Civilian Operations Stefano Tomat. The discussions took place in the context of the fourth High-Level Political and Security Dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.

 During the meetings, the officials reviewed the progress of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the field of security and defence, with a focus on the implementation of the Moldova–EU Partnership in this area, signed in 2024. They also highlighted the steady progress made by Moldova in its EU accession process, particularly regarding Chapter 31: “Foreign, Security and Defence Policy.”

The discussions also addressed ways to make effective use of the European Peace Facility (EPF) and the role of the EU Partnership Mission in Moldova (EUPM) in enhancing national resilience and countering the effects of hybrid warfare.

State Secretary Valeriu Mija expressed the Government of the Republic of Moldova’s gratitude for the support provided by the European Union through the EPF, the EUPM, and other relevant instruments.

In turn, the European officials emphasized the importance of Moldova’s contribution to the EU’s joint efforts to strengthen international security within the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
