September 5, 2025, Chișinău – State Secretary Valeriu Mija held a meeting with Deren Derya, Head of the Unit for Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus at the European External Action Service. This marks the European official’s first visit to our country since assuming her position earlier in September.
The dialogue focused on the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the next steps in the European Union accession process, with emphasis on Chapter 31 – Foreign, Security, and Defense Policy. The officials also discussed the agenda of upcoming events within the Moldova–European Union political dialogue and the Moldova–EU Security and Defense Partnership.
Additionally, the parties exchanged views on the economic and security situation in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.
State Secretary Valeriu Mija reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ gratitude for the assistance provided by the European Union in implementing the necessary reforms for the EU accession process, enhancing the resilience of public institutions in Chișinău, and facilitating the reintegration of the country.
