June 3, 2021, Chișinău - Interim Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi hosted a meeting with representatives of mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement, the so-called 3 + 2 format. The delegation is on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova and is led by Thomas Mayr-Harting, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office of Sweden. The parts assessed the current state of negotiations and the possibilities of dynamizing the works on the settlement of the Transnistrian issue based on the principle of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
"The goal of the Republic of Moldova is to find long-term political solutions for resolving the Transnistrian conflict. There are no confrontations between Moldovan citizens on both banks of the Dniester River. The government in Chisinau does not differentiate between its citizens, no matter on which bank of the Dniester River they live ", mentioned Aureliu Ciocoi, expressing thanks for the support given to the Republic of Moldova through observers on Transnistrian issues and pleading for a constructive dialogue.
The representatives of the delegation appreciated the positive dynamics following the varied assistance of the Government in combating the pandemic in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova. "It is our obligation to provide all the necessary support to the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, provided exclusively by the free delivery of medical items and anti-Covid vaccines from the stocks received by our country," said the interim prime minister.
The officials outlined the priorities for the preparation of the necessary actions that will be presented and examined at the Permanent Conference on Political Issues in the Transnistrian settlement process ("5 + 2" negotiation format), which would meet in the autumn in Stockholm.
In the second part of the day, the members of the Delegation pay a working visit to Tiraspol.
