6 February 2026, Chișinău – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, hosted in Chișinău the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, who paid a working visit.
The discussions confirmed the high level of Moldova–Lithuania political dialogue and the positive development of bilateral cooperation. The officials discussed further strengthening the partnership by expanding economic and sectoral cooperation. Lithuania’s consistent support for the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process was highlighted, including through the sharing of experience in implementing reforms and the EU acquis, as well as expertise provided in key reform areas. Mihai Popșoi underscored the importance of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, starting on 1 January 2027, for advancing the EU enlargement agenda.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi welcomed the positive momentum in economic cooperation between the two countries, noting the presence of 53 Lithuanian-capital companies in the Republic of Moldova and the organisation in Chișinău of a business forum with the participation of Lithuanian companies interested in new investment opportunities. The launch, from 1 April 2026, of direct Chișinău–Vilnius flights was also highlighted as a step that will facilitate economic and people-to-people contacts.
“Lithuania is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova and a steadfast supporter of our European path. We appreciate its openness in sharing its integration experience and its contribution to advancing reforms,” said Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, stated: “The Republic of Moldova is moving rapidly with reforms, and Lithuania is a strong supporter of its European integration. A strong Europe is not complete without the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and our neighbours in the Western Balkans.”
