March 27, 2025, Chișinău – State Secretary Valeriu Mija held a meeting with a delegation from the Swedish Enterprise Confederation, the representative organization of the Swedish business community, which brings together the majority of large companies and promotes economic development and investment initiatives.
The discussions highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic field, as well as strengthening resilience in the face of current challenges. State Secretary Mija emphasized the recent progress in Moldova’s European integration process, while also addressing key issues related to national and regional security, cybersecurity, and crisis management.
In this context, the Moldovan official welcomed the EU member states' decision to support the Moldova Reform and Growth Mechanism, worth 1.9 billion euros – the largest financial assistance package provided by the European Union to our country. This support will stimulate the national economy and accelerate the necessary reforms for EU accession, creating a favorable environment for foreign investments, including Swedish ones, and facilitating the expansion of Swedish companies' presence on the Moldovan market.
Furthermore, ways to advance cooperation within Moldova’s Growth Plan, aimed at modernizing the country, were discussed. Valeriu Mija pointed out that economic diplomacy plays a crucial role in attracting investments and strengthening partnerships between the business communities of both countries.
The discussions also highlighted the recent visit to Chișinău of the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, who announced the allocation of approximately 9.15 million euros for Moldova’s energy resilience and reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to partnership with our country.
The visit of the Swedish Enterprise Confederation delegation opens new opportunities for developing direct contacts between the business communities of both countries and attracting new investments. It reflects the increased commitment of the Swedish business environment towards Moldova and contributes to expanding economic dialogue alongside the positive dynamics of bilateral relations.
