Accreditation of diplomatic missions, consular offices and representatives of international organizations

The diplomatic missions, the consular offices and the representations of the international organizations are accredited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the norms of international law and the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.

Prior to signing a lease / property agreement for the headquarters of the diplomatic missions, consular offices and representatives of international organizations, the approval approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova regarding the compliance of the compliance criteria is mandatory.

At the first establishment of the headquarters, the diplomatic missions, consular offices and the representations of the international organizations send to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova a Verbal Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the accrediting state, accompanied by the original or certified copy of the lease / property of the headquarters, drawn up in strict accordance with the legislation in force.

When changing the address of the headquarters, the diplomatic missions, consular offices and the representations of the international organizations send to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova a Verbal Note from the diplomatic mission, the consular office or the representation of the international organization, accompanied by the original or the certified copy of the contract of location/property of the headquarters, compiled in strict accordance with the legislation in force.

If necessary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova is entitled to request additional documents.

The diplomatic missions, the consular offices and the representations of the international organizations present to the State Diplomatic Protocol, twice a year (February and July), the list of mission collaborators indicating the position held and the exact address (in electronic format at protocol@mfa.md), as well as the list of local staff employed within them.

In accordance with the rules of international law, national law and national regulations in force, the State Diplomatic Protocol accredits as legal persons:

  • diplomatic missions and consular offices;
  • representations of international intergovernmental organizations;
  • honorary consulates.
