Diplomatic relations

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Chile were established on May 12th, 1993

Bilateral visits

  • May 10 - 20, 1995 - working visit to the Republic of Chile of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandru Burian;
  • July 20 - 24, 1996 - working visit to the Republic of Chile of the governmental delegation of the Republic of Moldova led by the Deputy Prime Minister Ion Guţu;
  • July 18, 2013 - working visit to the Republic of Moldova of the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Romania, Maria Eliana Cuevas Bernales.

Bilateral legal framework

  • Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Chile (Bucharest, 12.05.1993).
  • Visa Waiver Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Chile for Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports (Chișinău, 18.07.2013).
  • Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Chile on the mutual travel requirements applicable to their nationals (Chișinău, 18.07.2013).

Economic relations

According to the National Bureau of Statistics data, the volume of bilateral trade of the Republic of Moldova with the Republic of Chile amounted to 2.3 million US dollars in 2020. These data do not reflect export and import operations of enterprises and economic agents from the left bank of the Nistru river and Bender municipality.
